A New Species of Genus Hessebius Verhoeff, 1941 (Lithobiomorpha: Lithobiidae) and Molecular Phylogenetic Analysis

Abstract:This study reports a new species of Hessebius, H. translucidus sp. nov., and the morphological features of which were characterized as:(1) antennae with 18-22 articles; 9-14 ocelli on each side arranged in 3 rows. (2) Anterior margin of coxosternite with 2+2 teeth. (3) 4-6 coxal pores. (4) The first section of female gonopods with 2+2 conical spurs; the dorsal terminal part of the second section strongly extending backward, and the end of the protuberance extends backward and forms an ice-like transparent structure; the terminal claw of the third section is simple with a small dentation on the basal ventral side. COⅠ gene-based phylogenetic analysis confirmed that the new species was correctly identified and classified.
